Lese majesty is a legal term that refers to the crime of showing disrespect or contempt towards a reigning sovereign or the state. This can include actions such as insulting the monarch, spreading false rumors about the royal family, or undermining the authority of the government. Lese majesty laws are often used to protect the honor and dignity of the ruling authority, and can carry severe penalties such as imprisonment or fines. These laws are often controversial as they can be used to suppress freedom of speech and expression. **
